Nicholas Dane

I've just read Nicholas Dane by Melvin Burgess. It's a book about a boy who's mum dies. He gets sent to a home where there is a man who rapes the boys. Some of the boys go along with it to get treats such as sweets and cigarettes. Nick ends up escaping and living out on the streets.

The scenery isn't really described in much detail.

The characters are fully described and have been clearly thought about. Nick is a likeable character because he's fun and not boring. However, he does have a concience. Therefore the reader is always on Nick's side.

I think this book has been written  for older students and adults because some of the contents could be disturbing.

Altogether, this was one of the best books I've ever read -9/10

Shadow Wave: The final installment of CHERUB

Wassup dawggggg,

This is the twelfth and final book in the series.

James is seventeen now and it's only a matter of time before he retires as a CHERUB agent. This book takes on a slightly different format to the previous ones which mostly start out with a training exercise and then go onto the main mission. Shadow wave can generally be split into three parts. The first third starts off with James finishing up his previous mission with the Brigands Motorcycle Club before returning to the CHERUB campus. A lot of previous characters return for a reunion of sorts and James finds out from his best friend, Kyle, that the last mission he is set to go on isn't quite what it seems. This lead to a fairly long flashback section in the middle of the book - of a previous mission of Kyle's - that sets up the rest of the book.

The main thing I noticed about this book was that a lot of it wasn't centred around James. There's so many great characters in these books so it was good to see sections from the point of view of some of the other characters. There were some I'd have liked to have seen more of but I guess there's only so much you can put in one book! I'd have really liked to have found out more about the epically long mission that Dante was on. It keeps being mentioned throughout this book and the previous one; it'd be awesome to actually read it though.

There was also a sense of nostalgia about Shadow Wave, not only James feeling it because he'd be leaving campus soon but for the reader as well. James was around twelve-years-old when the series started so it feels like we've watched him grow up throughout the books. I liked how the author finished off the book (and the series). It was just the right amount of happy cheesiness without going overboard.

A great story and a great ending to an awesome series. I can't wait for Muchamore's next series and of course the next of the Henderson's Boys books!

Crocodile Tears

I'm currently reading the new Alex Rider novel, Crocodile Tears, by Anthony Horowitz. I'm enjoying the story quite a bit, it's written sort of from the narrators and partly from Alex's point of view. The language is descriptive, yet relatively easy to read. The characters are well developed and realistic. I like Alex because he's a likeable and kind character, the only thing thats slightly unrealistic is how he always gets lucky and gets out of sticky situations just in time, but if that didn't happen, it wouldn't be Alex Rider! One of the main themes was deja vu as Alex keeps having to go back to MI6 and so you also know sort of whats going to happen, but not to much so it's tedious. The settings are described very well, but sometimes the author convieniently misses out bits of the scenery and uses them later.
Overall, I would give it a 8/10 because it's enjoyable, exciting and unique.

Hi, this is my first post :/ feeling a bit awkward about it.

I've just finished reading the Cherub series which is upsetting :( it was awesome but ive just realised that Muchamore wrote another series. It's a trilogy and im desperate to read it. Cherub was good as it was fun and had a bit of everything in it. The main character was funny and cool. The language was realatively easy to read and the settings described succesfully.

I've also just finished reading Gone. It was interesting and cool, but it hasn't, in my opinion, been written that well. I'm now half way through hunger. These books are designed awesomely! :

At the same time, I'm also reading, once again, Deathly Hallows (it's probably at least the 10th time!) It's my little obsesion :/ I absolutely love Harry Potter.

On another note, I'm writing 'The 9th Harry Potter Book' at the moment which is going well. Here's a little preview for anyone who cares :/  : But before you read it, just know that the final chapter in Deathly Hallows (the 19 years later) is the prieview in my book:

Chapter 1        Threat

As Harry Potter walked out of the lift and through the corridor on the 3rd floor of the Ministry of Magic, he looked out of the long window, stretching across most of the wall. He saw the light snow, causing the many bustling people to wrap up warm or put up their umbrellas, he saw the ginormous Christmas tree, reaching up to the sky, a gold star perched on top. But before he could open the heavy wooden door of his office, he felt a warm, heavy hand on his shoulder.
“Morning Harry,” The deep voice of Kingsley Shaklebolt rumbled. Harry swivelled round and replied
“Hey Kingsley, something up?” for there was a heavy frown burrowing on his forehead. Harry turned the bronze knob on his door and pushed it open, Kingsley in tow. “You should see for yourself,” Kingsley pointed to Harry’s mail tray as Harry sat down behind his desk. He reached over and picked up the letter on top. It was steaming at the edges. Harry slowly opened the envelope and read the letter made out of different clippings from the newspapers creating a message made from different size and shape letters. The letter said:
Just because the Dark Lord’s gone, doesn’t mean you’re safe

Also, I'm writing a comedy movie which is very hard but fun. It's called Batman & Nigel and about the death of Robin.

You can tell me what you think of the prieview if you want :/

Byeeee :D xx
